"Selling to people who actually want to hear from you is more effective than interrupting strangers who don't,"        - Seth Godin  (Author of Purple Cow, The Ideavirus and lots of other stuff)

Seth Godin has written about a lot of things, I love the idea of permission marketing but what's struck home the most for me has been his consistent point that the best businesses stand out in a unique and interesting way, the best are remarkable.  That's the subject of my first article this month.

On an unrelated note - Aspire is one of the sponsors for a Linked In 1/2 day workshop on Friday April 25th and I would love for you to join us.  It's a powerful (and free) tool that most people aren't taking advantage of - Come Learn how to use Linked In!

Linked In

I help small business owners that are feeling overwhelmed, lonely or just not sure what their next step should be to grow their business.  If you know of someone that might be interested in that I would like to meet them.

Have a great day and I hope to talk to you soon!

Shawn

Revisting being Remarkable
Remarkable FireWhat does it take to be remarkable?

At a BANG! meeting last week, we briefly got on the topic of the need as a business owner to be remarkable.
I've been running across this concept a lot lately and it sounds really intimidating.  Who am I, as a regular joe that likes college basketball, enjoys photography, is a business owner and a family guy - who am I to be remarkable?

I don't disagree with the theory - in a sea of 3,000 or more advertising impressions everyday, it's critical that you stand out in some way, otherwise you will be buried.  If not by your competition, then just by the sheer volume of what's out there.

Ready, Aim, Fire or Ready, Fire, Aim?
There's a delicate balance to drive success.Ready Fire Aim or Ready Aim Fire?

How many of us (I know I'm guilty of this) fall into the trap of waiting to make a move or to take action because we don't have all the information we think we need?

On the other hand, do you know anyone that recklessly jumps into the fire over and over and wonders why they get burned?  It can be a real challenge to be decisive and to thoroughly plan for the long term.

Let me start by saying that BNI is not for everyone.  BNI can be demanding, sometimes rigid and requires a real time committment to succeed.  However it can also be a great way to grow your business.

BNI is a formal networking organization that over the last 25 years has developed a successful formula for generating quality referrals for members.  There are over 45 chapters in the Kansas City area and if you're serious about wanting to grow your business via referrals, then you need to at least check it out.

My chapter is aggressively trying to grow right now and we would love to have you come for a no-obligation visit to check it out.  Contact me if you think you might be interested.

Pillars of the Earth Pillars of the Earth

I'm about 10 years late on this, but I'm sure I'm not the only one that missed it the first couple of times around.

This is a fantastic, enthralling book about building a cathedral in the middle ages...I know...you're likely thinking "I'd love to, but I've got paint that I need to watch dry instead!"  You'd be missing out on an entertaining experience.

I strongly encourage you to give this a try if you enjoy great story telling, sweeping sagas of turmoil, love, hate, passion and beauty.  It is a great period piece that illustrates a fascinating time in history, but it's much more than that.

Aspire Business Development works with small business owners looking for more.  We work with successful people that understand the value and the need for continual improvement and growth.  We'll help you figure out where you are, where you want to go and we'll work with you to help you get there.

If you have customers, revenue and costs, we can help you grow your bottom line, find more free time and generally have more fun with what you're doing.  Give me a call and I'd be happy to have a free consultation with you.Shawn Kinkade
